Southeast Europe - People and Culture

Opening speech by Neda Milišić, Embassy of the Republic of Croatia
Music from the Balkan by Attila Gera (wind instruments) and Gábor Gera (accordeon)

The exhibition presents a selection of pictures from a Europe-wide photo competition that took place between October 2009 and January 2010. Participants were asked to share their images on culture, sports and everyday life in the contemporary Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Kosovo) and Turkey.

From over 3.200 submitted photos, a jury of internationally acclaimed photographers selected 24 semi-finalists and three prize winners. The public was then able choose its own favourite by voting online.

The best pictures are now presented here. We hope you enjoy discovering the region!
