CEU to INFINITY - exhibition of photography by CEU alumni and students

Opening remarks by Serge Sych, director of ARCS

On the 20th Anniversary of CEU, this exhibition pays homage to the University’s tradition of philanthropy and celebrates the lifelong bond between CEU and its alumni, students and their professors, as well all the special people who came into their lives here.

The alumni and student works chosen for this exhibition were collected between October 8 and November 8, 2010 as part of a photo contest entitled “Focus to Infinity,” organized by the CEU Alumni Relations and Career Services team. The contest was dedicated to the unprecedented success of last year’s CEU Alumni Fundraising Campaign dubbed “The 80 Challenge” or “CEU to Infinity,” through which CEU alumni and friends raised USD 80,000 for student scholarships and general University support in time for CEU founder George Soros’s 80th birthday on August 12, 2010.

CEU students and alumni from all over the world captured the Infinity symbol (∞ = a sideways 8) in its various manifestations across the globe. The quest for Infinity has inspired our community to think of “CEU to Infinity” and thereby CEU everywhere and anywhere. The CEU family spreads across 110 different countries around the world, and every one of them is a place where we may remember CEU, discuss CEU and create a space for CEU, its community and its values, which have brought us together in the heart of Europe to educate and inspire us to build the kind of world that we believe in.

The exhibition is supported by the 20th Anniversary Events Fund.
