We are going on with our dance clubs!

With the main idea of trying to bring you the traditional music and dance of a particular nation, region or ethnicity, this time it's the turn of the well-known and popular k l e z m e r, spread all over Europe and the world, featuring the D a v i d K l e z m e r Q u i n t e t, old new guests on the Dormitory stage.

"The Jews preserve their traditions including their music everywhere. For their traditional music it is inevitable to blend with the characteristics of the different regions' local music. This is what makes KLEZMER so unique. This exciting sound full of passion inspired the members to form their band called DAVID KLEZMER QUINTET in 1999.

The word klezmer originates from the Hebrew words "klej" and "zemer" and it refers both to the musical instrument and the musician who plays on it. The music of the David Klezmer Quintet is traditional hungarian Jewish music which is alloyed with the music of the 20th century. The quintet was formed in 1999. The members of the band grew up with European classical music and all received their musical education in this field.

The repertoire contains well-known and not so well-known Jewish melodies, own melodies and improvisative solos. The David Klezmer Quintet is a concertgroup, they invite the audience to enjoy in their great, show-effect-crammed live performances. Since their formation they have written music together with the composer Béla Faragó for the play "Cseresznyéskert" by Csehov. The band has received financial support from the Soros Foundation and The Association of Hungarian Musicians."

The entrance for the event is free, bring along your friends!
