Choir Improvisation Workshop led by Árpád Tóth

During the last eleven years Árpád Tóth built up a special method on how conductors can lead their choirs to improvisation, and how they can help their singers to find a more comfortable and more natural way of singing. In the first part of the workshop the participants will learn some music games and then they will take part in some simple improvisation activities. With the technique of choir improvisation such music pieces can be used as a part of a concert or as a challenging part of a rehearsal. Anyone interested in feeling the freedom of singing can attend the workshop.

Árpád Tóth, born in Budapest, 1982, graduated at the Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest as a choral conductor, music educator and teacher of solfége and music theory. He is leading several choirs in Hungary (among others the famous Csíkszerda) and has worked for more than 15 years with the Hungarian minority of Slovakia as a choral conductor and music educator. He is the art director of special modern singing events, such as the Budapest Night of Choirs and ’Hajnalok Völgye’, the first Slovakian contemporary choir festival. For several years he is leading courses in summerschools and winterschools all over the world (South-Korea, UK, Australia, China, Germany, etc.) and has built up a special choir improvisation technic with his choirs.

Admission is free! However, seats are limited so please let us know if you are willing to come by sending an email to cac@ceu.edu!
