Klezmer Music and Jewish Dance Club with the David Klezmer Quintet

The word klezmer originates from the Hebrew words "klej" and "zemer" and it refers both to the musical instrument and the musician who plays on it. The music of the David Klezmer Quintet is traditional Jewish music which is alloyed with the music of the 20th century. The quintet was formed in 1999. The members of the band grew up with European classical music and all received their musical education in this field. The repertoire contains well-known and not so well-known Jewish melodies, own melodies and improvisative solos. The band has received financial support from the Soros Foundation and The Association of Hungarian Musicians.

József Dávid – clarinet; István Kerek – violin, viola; Katalin Agnecz -accordion; István Rózsa – tuba; trumpet; bassgitar; Péter Árkosi – percussion

The dance club is part of the Carnival Party’s program events
